Series Synopsis
Penny has completed her early Training Troubles and proven herself as a brave neighborhood hero in the Super Penny Puppy Adventure Series. Now older and more experienced, she is ready for her biggest challenge yet: becoming a canine detective.
In the Super Sleuth series, Penny joins the Pawsville branch of an international dog detective agency led by the mysterious Snoop. Each easy-reader chapter book introduces a new case for Penny to solve using careful observation, clever thinking, teamwork, and the heroic instincts she developed during her earlier adventures.
From missing objects and puzzling clues to suspicious sounds and neighborhood mysteries, every case gives Penny a chance to grow as a detective while continuing to help those around her. Written by ten-year-old author Brendan Gilbert with guidance from longtime educator and children’s author Jenn Welby Gilbert, the series is designed to offer developing readers short chapters, familiar characters, exciting mysteries, and satisfying solutions that encourage them to keep turning the pages.
Book 1: A Call from Snoop
One chilly morning, Penny is awakened by a phone that will not stop ringing. Curious but determined not to wake her family, she quietly creeps across the house and answers the mysterious call.
The dog on the other end introduces himself as Snoop, the leader of an international dog detective agency. He knows Penny’s secret identity as Super Penny Puppy, has followed her years of heroic work, and wants her to join the agency’s Pawsville branch.
Penny already has an important job protecting her neighborhood, but she begins to wonder whether detective training could make her an even better hero. After considering the possibilities, she accepts Snoop’s invitation—and opens the door to a new life filled with secret missions, puzzling clues, and cases waiting to be solved.
